OpenAI turbocharges GPT-4 and makes it cheaper

Nov 06, 2023 - theverge.com
OpenAI has announced improvements to its large language models, GPT-4 and GPT-3.5, including updated knowledge bases and a longer context window. The company also plans to protect customers against copyright lawsuits, following Google and Microsoft's lead. GPT-4 Turbo, available via an API preview, has been trained with information up to April 2023 and is expected to be production-ready in a few weeks. It is cheaper for developers, with input costing $0.01 per 1,000 tokens and output at $0.03 per 1,000 tokens.

Improvements to GPT-4 Turbo allow the model to perform more complex tasks in one prompt and users can specify the coding language for results. GPT-3.5 Turbo will also see improvements in context windows, functionality, and pricing. OpenAI also announced a program called Copyright Shield to provide copyright indemnity to enterprise users, pledging to defend customers and cover costs in case of legal claims around copyright infringement. This covers features of ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI’s developer platform.
