'Playtime is Over' for GenAI: NTT DATA Research Shows Organizations Shifting From Experiments to Investments That Drive Performance

NTT DATA, a global digital business and IT services leader, has released research indicating that organizations are shifting from experimenting with generative AI (GenAI) to making investments that drive performance. The study surveyed over 2,300 IT and business leaders across 12 industries and 34 countries, revealing that 97% of CEOs anticipate a significant impact from this technology, and 99% of organizations are planning further GenAI investments. The research also found that 90% of respondents believe legacy infrastructure hinders the effective use of GenAI.

The study identified top use cases for GenAI, including personalized service recommendations, quality control, and research and development. However, it also highlighted challenges, such as a lack of necessary skills among employees and concerns about GenAI’s safety and security. Despite these obstacles, 68% of respondents globally expressed excitement about GenAI’s transformative potential.
