Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 brings on-device AI and Wi-Fi 7

Qualcomm has announced another chip, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, following the 8 Gen 3 last year. The new chip allows for on-device generative AI, like images and voice assistants, and is compatible with LLMs such as Gemini Nano, Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Zhipu ChatGLM. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 features one Prime Cortex-X4, four Performance, and three Efficiency cores, and is designed for high-tier smartphones. It offers 15% improved Kryo CPU and 45% better Adreno GPU performance than the 7+ Gen 2, while being 5% more power efficient.

In terms of connectivity, the new chip supports Wi-Fi 7 with the FastConnect 7800 and the Snapdragon X63 5G Modem supports 3GPP Release 17. It also features a "Game Post Processing Accelerator" for enhanced gaming effects and the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 for content enhancement. The Spectra 18-bit Triple Cognitive ISP supports photography up to 200MP with features like semantic segmentation and low light vision. OnePlus, realme, and SHARP will be among the first partners to adopt the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 in the coming months.
