Race for AI Supremacy in Middle East Is Measured in Data Centers
The Gulf states' competition in the field of artificial intelligence can be observed in an unmarked building near a golf course on the outskirts of Dubai. This windowless, 23,648-square-foot facility, which is meticulously maintained to protect the expensive equipment inside from desert dust, is the fourth in the United Arab Emirates operated by Equinix Inc., a data center developer based in Redwood City, California.

The facility, which opened in September, was constructed over a period of 18 months. The cleanliness and temperature control inside the building are crucial to protect the multimillion-dollar equipment from potential damage. Equinix Inc. is also considering expanding its operations into neighboring Saudi Arabia.
