Samsung QLED and 8K TVs Amp Up Style, Picture and Game Bar

Jan 08, 2024 - cnet.com
Samsung, the world's leading TV manufacturer, plans to sell four different 98-inch TVs in 2024, along with a variety of smaller models. The company introduced TVs that use both OLED and QLED technology at CES 2024, with the flagship QN900D, available from 65 to 98 inches, being touted as the slimmest, most premium 8K TV to ever hit the market. The QN900D is also the first TV to support a maximum variable refresh rate (VRR) of 240Hz, which improves the smoothness of games.

In addition to the 8K models, Samsung also introduced two high-end Neo QLED 4K models, the QN85D and QN90D, available in sizes from 43 to 98 inches. The company claims that nearly 40% of high-end buyers are considering an 8K TV, but the high price may deter most people. Samsung also announced two series of OLED-based TVs, with pricing and availability to be announced later. The company continues to innovate in gaming and accessibility features, with the 2024 version of its Game Bar offering automatic game genre detection and a new Audio Subtitles feature that can read subtitles out loud in real time.
