Samsung Will Expand Galaxy AI Beyond the S24 Series Tailoring It for Foldables and Tablets

Samsung is integrating generative AI into its Galaxy S24 series, marking its first major investment in the technology. The new features, collectively known as Galaxy AI, include photo editing options, real-time language translation during calls, and will initially be available on the Galaxy S24 series before being introduced to the Galaxy S23 series. Won-Joon Choi, executive vice president and head of the research and development office for Samsung's mobile experience business, stated that the Galaxy AI will eventually be expanded to other devices like tablets and wearables.

The Galaxy S24 will also have features like rewriting text messages in different tones, translating text messages and documents in Samsung's Note app, identifying speakers in audio transcriptions, and more. Some of these features are developed in partnership with Google, such as the Circle to Search feature. Choi also mentioned that Samsung is working on a new version of Bixby, its voice-enabled virtual assistant, infused with generative AI. However, he clarified that Galaxy AI is not intended to replace Bixby, but to enhance it.
