Samsung's Galaxy S24 will feature Google Gemini-powered AI features | TechCrunch

Jan 17, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Google and Samsung have announced that Gemini, Google's advanced generative AI model family, will be featured in Samsung's new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24. Specifically, the mid-range model Gemini Pro will enhance Samsung’s Notes, Voice Recorder and Keyboard apps, offering improved summarization features. The more compact model, Gemini Nano, will power a new feature in Google Messages, Magic Compose, which can create messages in various styles without an internet connection. The Galaxy S24 is only the second Android device to run a Gemini Nano model after Google’s Pixel 8 Pro.

In addition to Gemini, the Galaxy S24 will also incorporate Google’s Imagen 2 text-to-image model, enhancing photo editing features in the Galaxy S24 Gallery app. Samsung will also be among the first to test Gemini Ultra, the largest and most capable Gemini model, before it is made available to developers and enterprises later this year. However, the potential uses of Ultra on the Galaxy S24 or other Samsung devices have not been specified.
