Samsung’s S24 and S24 Plus put new AI smarts in a polished package

Samsung has announced its Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus smartphones, which are set to ship on January 31st. The phones, priced at $799.99 and $999.99 respectively, share the same AI-infused features as the more expensive Galaxy S24 Ultra. These features include a voice notes app that can transcribe and summarize conversations, a Magic Editor-style feature for photo editing, and a "tone tweak" feature for adjusting the tone of written text. The phones also promise seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus have larger and brighter screens than their predecessors, with sizes of 6.2 and 6.7 inches respectively. The S24 Plus also has a 1440p resolution, up from 1080p. Both phones feature a triple-camera setup, with a 50-megapixel main, a 12-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
