Toronto-based AI-powered data search platform, Secoda, has raised $14 million in a Series A funding round to further develop its AI solutions. The funding round was led by Craft Ventures and included participation from Abstract Ventures, YCombinator, Garage Capital, and data ecosystem leaders. The platform allows users to search, understand, and use company data, aiming to make the process as simple as a Google search. The funding will be used to strengthen the engineering team, conduct more R&D, and introduce Secoda Monitoring to ensure data quality and accuracy.

Secoda, launched in 2021, integrates with business intelligence and transformation tools, as well as data warehouses, to create a single source of truth for company data. It uses a ChatGPT-powered assistant to allow users to write documentation and search their company’s unified data catalog with natural language queries. The company has seen a fivefold increase in its customer base over the last year, managing over 100 million metadata resources. It plans to continue adding more connectors based on popularity and demand.
