Slack AI is here, letting you catch up on lengthy threads and unread messages

Feb 14, 2024 - theverge.com
Slack is introducing a range of AI features that provide summaries of threads and channel recaps, and allow users to ask questions about workplace activities. The features, which were initially tested last year, are now available as a paid add-on for Slack Enterprise users. Users can use Slack AI to get a summary of a conversation they've been tagged in, or to get a recap of channel chatter. The AI tool can also answer questions about specific projects or workplace policies, and can be used to define acronyms used on Slack.

The platform's AI will also integrate with other apps that plug into Slack, enabling users to get summaries of Notion documents or ask questions about something stored in Box. Slack is also developing more tools to summarize and prioritize information, including a new digest feature that will provide highlights from selected channels. The company is also working on a native integration of Einstein Copilot, its AI chatbot that can write messages for users. Slack AI is currently only available in US and UK English, with support for additional languages coming soon.
