Superalignment Fast Grants

Dec 14, 2023 - openai.com
OpenAI believes superintelligence could arrive within the next decade, posing new challenges in aligning and ensuring the safety of these AI systems. To address this, OpenAI, in partnership with Eric Schmidt, is launching a $10M grants program, the Superalignment Fast Grants, to support technical research towards ensuring superhuman AI systems are aligned and safe. The grants, ranging from $100K to $2M, are available for academic labs, nonprofits, and individual researchers, with a special $150K fellowship for graduate students.

The grants aim to fund research in several areas including weak-to-strong generalization, interpretability, scalable oversight, honesty, chain-of-thought faithfulness, adversarial robustness, evals and testbeds, among others. OpenAI is particularly interested in bringing new researchers into the field, believing they could make significant contributions to this young and critical area of AI research.
