Chinese shopping app Temu was the most downloaded free app in the U.S. in 2024, surpassing TikTok, which faced a U.S. ban and ranked third. Meta’s Instagram Threads moved to the second spot, while ChatGPT made a notable entry at fourth, ahead of Google’s Search app. This marks a significant shift as ChatGPT was not in the top 10 the previous year. Other Meta apps like Instagram and WhatsApp ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, with Facebook at thirteenth.
