Feb 28, 2024 - techcrunch.com
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) hosts an annual startup competition called "Four Years From Now", aimed at finding the best startups globally. This year, five finalists were selected by a panel of industry experts and investors. The finalists include Bitsensing, a South Korean company with a radar technology that detects passengers in a car; Mica AI Medical, which uses image scans to diagnose suspicious findings before a breast cancer tumor develops; Ocean Ecostructures, a Spanish company that regenerates marine life; Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a full-stack quantum computing company; and Whispp, a Netherlands-based company with an app that converts whispered and vocal cord impaired speech into a person’s natural voice.

Bitsensing has raised $21.3 million to date, while Ocean Ecostructures and Whispp have raised €1.6 million and €1.4 million respectively. Ocean Ecostructures is also part of the 2023 Norrsken Accelerator programme. Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech was founded in 2018 by José Ignacio Latorre, a professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Barcelona. Whispp's technology could potentially be used by elderly individuals or post-operative throat patients, and could also be adapted for corporate phone calls.
