Thomvest Ventures is starting 2024 with a new $250 million fund and has promoted Umesh Padval and Nima Wedlake to managing directors. The Bay Area venture capital firm, founded by Peter Thomson, has shifted its focus over the years to specialize in key industries such as financial and real estate technology, cybersecurity, cloud and AI/data infrastructure. The new fund brings the firm's total assets under management to $750 million, with plans to invest in 25 to 30 companies.

Thomvest has made a few investments from the new fund, but details have not been made public yet. The firm raised its previous fund in 2017 and has made over 75 investments in total, including in companies like Blend Labs, Carta, Cohere, Kabbage, LendingClub, SoFi, and Vungle.
