Today, a web3 social simulation game, has secured $5 million in seed funding to further develop its AI-powered intelligent NPCs and no-code creator tools. The round was led by Sfermion and Big Brain, with participation from GSR, Collab+Currency, Lingfeng Innovation Fund, Compute Ventures, Builder Capital, Tommy Tran, Metavest Capital, 32 Bit Ventures, Dingaling, Grail and Spirit DAO. The game, which draws inspiration from The Sims and Animal Crossing, uses generative AI to create realistic NPC interactions and aims to build the most immersive social simulation game.

The company plans to use the funding to enhance its storytelling through emergent interactions with NPCs. Today's proprietary character engine allows NPCs to evolve over time, creating unique gameplay for each player. The company is also planning to leverage web3 and no-code technology to innovate the social sim genre, with no-code creator tools allowing players to build their own islands and in-game assets. Today will also use NFTs to deliver exclusive content and is set to mint its Ancient Seeds collection on April 9. The game's alpha version is expected to launch in early 2025.
