Witcher 4 could enter production this year, multiplayer being considered for Cyberpunk 2

Jan 22, 2024 - videogameschronicle.com
CD Projekt, the gaming company, is set to enter the production phase of The Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris, this year. The new game, which will kick off a new saga for the franchise, is being built with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, unlike previous Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077 which used the proprietary REDengine. The game, the first part of a new trilogy, is expected to be released in 2026 or 2027 and will have around 400 developers working on it by mid-year.

The company is also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Project Orion, which is currently in the conceptual design phase. The sequel, which will have about 80 people working on it by the end of the year, may include multiplayer elements. CD Projekt is also exploring the use of AI in game development, having previously used it to recreate the voice of a deceased actor.
