X appears to block Taylor Swift searches... barely

Jan 27, 2024 - theverge.com
X, formerly known as Twitter, appears to have blocked searches for Taylor Swift due to a recent trend of graphic AI-generated fakes of the artist being posted on the site. However, the block seems to be ineffective as users can still find results by slightly altering the search terms or by clicking on the Media tab, which reveals plenty of images.

Reports suggest that Swift is considering legal action against the sites hosting these images, which were reportedly created using Microsoft Designer. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, has called the deepfakes "alarming and terrible" and stressed the need for AI companies to establish better safeguards quickly. X has not officially confirmed whether the block on Swift's name is intentional.
