X pushes more users to Communities | TechCrunch

May 16, 2024 - techcrunch.com
X, formerly known as Twitter, is revamping its Communities feature to improve user networking around topics of interest. The updates include enhanced discovery tools, recommendations, search and sorting options, and aim to connect more users and increase engagement. The company envisions Communities as a potential information source that could rival Reddit and increase the value of the data it offers. Notably, Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, and its Grok chatbot already have access to real-time X data.

The revamped Communities feature will allow users to discover trending posts from new Communities directly from an Explore tab within the section. Users will also receive recommendations for Communities on their timeline, and Communities will be searchable by topic. Future updates include community analytics for moderators, Community Spaces, and improved moderation tools. Increased user participation in Communities could provide more data to the Grok chatbot, benefiting both X and xAI.
