Yellow raises $5M from A16z for Gen AI-powered 3D modeling tool

May 09, 2024 - venturebeat.com
Yellow, a company that uses AI to create 3D characters, has raised $5 million in seed funding from A16z Games. The funds will be used to further develop its Gen AI-powered 3D modeling tool, YellowSculpt, which allows artists to generate pre-rigged 3D character meshes in under three minutes. YellowSculpt aims to make 3D character creation accessible to a wider audience and reduce the work necessary to make 3D characters ready for animation and use in games.

Since closing its funding round in mid-2023, Yellow has expanded its team and is currently working on extending YellowSculpt to include fantasy characters and lifelike expressions and motion. The company is also exploring the creation of immersive 3D environments where these characters can interact. Yellow was cofounded by Mandeep Waraich, formerly Google’s Head of Product: Core ML – Large Models and Industrial AI, and Chief Scientist Prof. Vincent Sitzmann from MIT’s Scene Representation Group.
