Zoom Docs launches in 2024 with built-in AI collaboration features

Oct 03, 2023 - theverge.com
Zoom has announced Zoom Docs, a collaboration-focused workspace that integrates with the company's AI Companion, at Zoomtopia 2023. The new offering, which is expected to be widely available in 2024, is part of Zoom's efforts to provide a full office suite alternative to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Zoom Docs supports interdocument linking and embedding, hierarchical organization with folders, and can be managed from meetings, Zoom’s Team Chat, or directly through a browser or Zoom’s desktop and mobile applications.

Zoom AI Companion, which is included in the company's paid subscription plans, can summarize meetings, chats, and information from inside Zoom Docs or generate in-document tables. Unlike Microsoft and Google, which charge extra for their AI-powered tools, Zoom AI Companion is included in the subscription price. Zoom Docs is more focused on team collaboration than spreadsheets and presentations, potentially making it a cost-effective choice for businesses that primarily use office tools for note-taking and meetings.
