AlphaDev is an artificial intelligence (AI) system that uses reinforcement learning to discover enhanced computer science algorithms. AlphaDev has successfully uncovered faster algorithms for sorting and hashing, surpassing those developed by scientists and engineers over decades. AlphaDev Highlights

• AlphaDev has discovered new sorting algorithms that are up to 70% faster for shorter sequences and about 1.7% faster for sequences exceeding 250,000 elements.
• The AI system has also uncovered a faster algorithm for hashing in data structures, which is 30% faster in the 9-16 bytes range of the hashing function.
• AlphaDev has demonstrated its ability to find novel approaches, such as the 'AlphaDev swap and copy moves', which save a single instruction each time they’re applied, leading to significant improvements in speed and efficiency.
